President makes Fiji's maiden visit to Palau

Update: 11:25AM PRESIDENT Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, begins his official visit to Palau today as part of his tour of regional capitals.

It's the first visit by a Fijian head of State to Palau, a chain of about 200 islands in the north-west Pacific that became a sovereign state in 1994 and has a Compact of Free Association with the United States.

Ratu Epeli is due to hold talks with senior Palauan officials, including the President, Thomas Remengesau.

Later in the week, he will travel on to Guam.
