NAMES of candidates who will contest the general election for the Social Democratic and Liberal Party will be made public soon.

The SODELPA leader, Roko Tui Dreketi, Ro Teimumu Kepa, said the selection committee was finalising the list of the candidates who had applied.

Ro Teimumu said people who were also interested in applying were being encouraged to do so even after the final list was out.

"Once the Electoral Decree comes out, then those people that had been thinking about applying can do so," she said.

Ro Teimumu said after the release of the decree, applicants would have a better understanding of the rules and regulations and the perimeters within which they could work.

She confirmed, the selection committee had received about 100 applications.
