Hockey makes the cut

THE national under-18 girls hockey team has fulfilled its promise of qualifying for the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Nanjing, China, in August.

They lost to New Zealand 1-5 in the final of the YOG qualification tournament in Port Vila.

The Lala Ravatu-captained side only needed to beat Vanuatu and play in the final to guarantee their spot at the Youth Olympics and they did exactly that.

Meanwhile, the boys side won the bronze medal after beating Vanuatu 4-3.

The side returns home today.
