VETERAN golfer Anthony John is optimistic of winning the Nadi Foodhall Supermarket-sponsored round two tournament at Lautoka Golf Links on Saturday.

The 63-year-old is leading the tournament score sheet with 15 points in last weekend's first round of games.

He said his win in round one had given him the confidence to extend his lead this weekend.

"I am confident of winning the second round," said John.

"I will try and prove it this weekend that my last win was not a fluke."

John will face competition from the likes of former Lautoka open champion Prem Chand, pre-Summer Cup champion Charlie Bhaskaran, Surend Pillay and Gaffar Ali.

Club vice-president Surend Pillay said the competition would bring out the best from all Lautoka's top golfers. He said the golfers would be gunning to deny John his second win and it would be interesting to witness these top golfers battle.
