Wednesday, March 12, 2014

COMMISSIONER Western Commander Joeli Cawaki has issued a notice to all officials in the West to be ready in case the weather situation deteriorates.

He asked that they monitor the progress of TC Lusi.

Ra provincial administrator Kelepi Kubunameca said word had gone out to all village leaders.

"Our villages have their own disaster management plans and I trust these will be followed at such times," Mr Kubunameca said.

"For us the main issue will be flooding, so we are looking at that; even with a little rain the town area is flooded."

Nadarivatu district officer Osea Ravukivuki said the message for preparations was communicated yesterday.

"We are all watching the weather closely now," Mr Ravukivuki said.

Nadroga provincial administrator Peni Naqasenivanua said emergency teams in Sigatoka were notified and stakeholders, including civil servants, had been informed.
