20 teams for futsal tourney

THE Design Engineering-sponsored five-a-side soccer tournament will get underway at the South Seas Club futsal ground in Lautoka this evening.

More than 20 teams have confirmed entry for the three-day event which will be played under lights.

Tournament organiser Faiaaz Ali said the rainy weather should not affect the games.

Ali said cash prizes would be given to the top four teams.

"At the moment we are anticipating a 24-team draw," he said.

"Some teams will be coming from Nadi. Most of the outdoor sporting activities have been cancelled for the weekend but this tournament will continue."

Teams that have confirmed entry are: Design Engineering, Hire Equip, Modern Electric, P Meghji, Fiji Gas, HFC, Nadi Blues, Amalgamated Pest Control, Dharmen & Associates, Pac Investment, Tomuka Strikers, United Sangam, Nadi Jetset, Ernest & Young, FSC, Punjas, CJ Patel, RC Manubhai, Supercool, Carpenters Shipping and Rifle Range.

The pool draws and the fixtures will be done at 5.30pm and the tournament will start at 6pm.
