North schools on standby for evacuation centres

Update: 6:50PM ALL schools up north have been identified by the Commissioner Northern's office as standby evacuation centres.

Acting Commissioner Northern Alipate Bolalevu this afternoon said they had liaised with the Education Ministry to put the schools on standby for evacuation centres.

"The Civic Centre building and the Labasa College of Nursing have also been eyed as evacuation centres," he said.

"Right now, all the centres are on standby. We haven't activate one yet."
