By SHAYAL DEVI
Thursday, February 27, 2014

Update: 9:30AM BUSINESS in Rakiraki is open this morning but heavy rainfall continues to batter the town.

Rakiraki assistant district officer Pio Loco said the town had a power outage from this morning.

"We have opened all the roads and we are in the process of talking with the bus operators here to resume services," he said.

"All the evacuation centres have been closed as of 8am and now we are awaiting directives from the Education Ministry on whether schools will be open today or not."

Mr Loco said they remain on alert as weather continues to deteriorate.
