Activities attendant wins frontliner award

AFTER spending 10 years in the tourism industry, Josaia Baleinatewa never expected to be the centre of attention.

The 37-year-old was rewarded for his contributions to the industry at the 17th AON Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards on Friday night where he was named the Frontliner of the Year.

The Sanasana native said he had spent five years at InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa.

"I work as an activities attendant in the recreational department," he said.

"To be honest, I had no idea about the nomination until I was informed by my work colleagues."

Mr Baleinatewa said he enjoyed working at the resort because the interaction with guests gave his job an edge.

Married with three children, Mr Baleinatewa was humble about the win.

"This is a team effort by all the staff at the resort and I would like to thank them for this award."
