Heaven gains an angel

THE only daughter of the late Reverend Dr Tuikilakila Waqairatu, Roko Seini Senirewa Waqainabete, has spoken of the many memories of her father.

"My Ratu was always compassionate towards animals," Mrs Waqainabete shared with the mourners at the funeral service for the Methodist Church president.

"He didn't want anybody stepping on an ant, and if we did, we would be given a lecture from Genesis.

"We even had to perform a small funeral service for our pet rooster at home when it died.

"Even the pets at home feel his loss. He loved God's creation and did not want to hurt any of them."

The USP marine science lecturer said her parents were her role models in marriage and in life.

"Ratu was my mother's best friend and although my mother has lost her best friend, heaven has surely gained an angel."

Mrs Waqainabete shared how they once asked her father for them to go on a family holiday; he replied that as long as he had his Bible, his wife, his daughter and his books, he would rather stay home.

She said her father had a great love of service to God and he loved Fiji so much; he wanted the people to know the Lord Jesus Christ and for all to have eternal life.

Mrs Waqainabete said while many said her father's death was sudden, she assured the mourners he had passed away at God's appointed time.
