Search for young talent

THE Ba Golf Club is aiming to produce more talented players following the success of one its members Vikrant Chandra.

The former national rep who turned professional in 2012, is now flying Fiji's flag in New Zealand having secured a ticket on the PGA New Zealand Tour.

Ba Golf Club treasurer Rajeshwar Prasad said they were proud of Vikrant's achievements.

Prasad said Fiji does not have many players featuring in the professional circuits overseas.

"Vikrant is following the footsteps of former world number one Vijay Singh and Japan-based Dinesh Chand," he said.

"The club held its annual general meeting on Friday where some new executive members were elected.

"Vikrant's father Pradeep is now our new club captain. Pradeep is a keen golfer and has set out plans to develop the sport so that we can unearth more young talents."

The office bearers for the 2014 season are: president: Sailasa Waitawa; vice president: Subrail Goundar; secretary: Shakti Singh; assistant secretary: Asish Chand; treasurer: Rajeshwar Prasad; captain: Pradeep Chandra; vice-captain/course director: Vishwa Nadan; committee members: Sunil Sharma, Rahul Kumar, Ravendra Kumar, Krishneel Kumar, Bineshwar Prasad.
