Early morning blaze claims student's life

Update: 11:00AM A SEVENTEEN-year-old DAV College student today lost his life in an early morning fire at Vatuwaqa.

Police spokesman Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri said the fire started at 4am and the two-bedroom corrugated iron and timber house was completely destroyed.

"Neighbours heard a loud sound and saw a car, registration number EM 011, parked on the porch on fire," Inspector Sokomuri said.

"Dead is a 17-year-old student of DAV College, who was trapped inside the house.

"The body is now at CWM Hospital mortuary."
