Water cuts frustrate residents

By Jone Kalouniviti
Friday, February 14, 2014

Update: 4:27PM TODAY marks the third week of water cuts in Lautoka and complaints against water carting have surfaced.

Kashmir resident Ajay Verma said water trucks were servicing areas when people were away at work.

I had asked one of the truck drivers about this and he only replied that they were directed to make their rounds at given times, he said.

We have not had water for a month but when the water trucks finally arrive, there is no one home to fill our buckets or drums.

WAF CEO Opetaia Ravai said they could understand people's frustrations and were reviewing the carting schedule.

He said WAF was also trying to address the problem based on resources available.
