Friday, February 14, 2014

TERMITE eradication work by the Northern Termite Board is progressing, says acting Commissioner Northern Alipate Bolalevu.

Mr Bolalevu said an officer from the Biosecurity Authority of Fiji was based at his office and attended to reports and queries from members of the public in the region.

He said the authority had also scheduled a roadshow for the North from February 27 in line with BAF's efforts to raise awareness on the issue.

"The BAF officer that is currently based at the Commissioner Northern's office has also started attending to district and provincial meetings raising awareness to people at the grassroots level," he said.

Mr Bolalevu said reports of termite infestation in the North had reduced significanlty.

"The reason for the reduction in reports is largely due to the awareness that is being carried out to communities.
