Fire destroys two shops

Update: 11:35AM POLICE and the National Fire Authority are trying to ascertain the cause of a fire that destroyed two shops in Rakiraki early this morning.

Police and firefighters are at the scene in Rakiraki Town as smoke is still coming out of one of the shops.

A police officer said the fire started from the Vinod Patel hardware shop and spread to the adjacent Meenoos shop at about 1:30am.

Fire trucks from Lautoka, Ba, Rakiraki and two companies were sent to the scene but the two shops were destroyed.
