Club tees off season

THE Nadi Airport Golf Club will tee off its 2014 season with the Summer Cup this Saturday.

The six-week event will be sponsored by Metal Works & Joinery Limited and Island Pacific Apparel.

Abid Husain will defend the title.

Meanwhile, the club hosted two successful tournaments last weekend led by the new management committee.

On Saturday, the KP's Restaurant-sponsored 18 holes stroke event was played.

Former club president Chandra Segran Pillay was crowned the winner. Pillay scored 66 nett.

Ritesh Chandra was second with 68 nett. Newly-elected president Munesh Prasad was third with 69 nett. Praneel Prasad was fourth with 70 nett. He also claimed one of the two nearest to the pin prizes.

Balram finished in fifth position with 71 nett. Rajiv Prasad claimed the other nearest to the pin prize and also hit the longest drive.

On Sunday, Praneel won the Ananda Madhwan Restaurant-sponsored nine holes stroke event. He scored 31 nett and claimed the nearest to the pin prize.
