Weddings sacred

Mere Naleba
Thursday, February 13, 2014

THE Methodist Church in Fiji respects the decision of the Roman Catholic Church that those wishing to get married should do so inside a church or a chapel.

Methodist Church's secretary for Communication Reverend James Bhagwan said the Methodist Church also valued the sanctity of marriage, meaning that weddings should be done in the presence of God.

"We respect the Roman Catholic Church's stand on the issue based on their theological understanding," Mr Bhagwan said via email yesterday.

"We also value the sanctity of marriage not just as a legal contract but also as a commitment to be made in the presence of and blessed by God."
