Players ready for transfer

A lot of movements are expected in the month long Fiji Football Association transfer window which opens on February 24.

Ba and Nadi are expected to strengthen their squads ahead of the Oceania Champions League play-offs in April.

Lautoka, which is reeling at the bottom of the Fiji Sun/Skipper Tuna National Football League (NFL) has confirmed recruitment of players from other districts to avoid relegation to the premier division.

Fiji FA chief executive officer Bob Kumar said the transfer window would close on March 23.

Kumar said the players needed to carefully decide on their transfers.

"The transfers have to be done according to the guidelines," he said.

"There have been many disputes in the past which Fiji FA has had to resolve."

Meanwhile, Lautoka coach Dennis Singh said drastic changes would be made to the team after recording four straight losses in the NFL.

"The fans urged the home talents to be utilised and we tried them for four games without any success," Singh said.

"Our remaining matches in round one of the NFL are against Ba, Nadi and Navua. Those teams will be no pushover.

"The way it is going, we are heading for demotion. Drastic action needs to be taken. The transfer window will be opening soon and we will seriously look at our weak areas and recruit quality players."

Lautoka and Navua will not be in action in the NFL this weekend.
