Update: 1:06PM A PUBLIC lecture based on the importance of addressing key issues surrounding illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing globally was hosted last night at USP's marine campus.

The keynote speaker was Professor William Edeson, who is the legal adviser to the Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA) as well as a professorial fellow at the University of Wollongong.

Prof Edeson said Pacific Island countries played a large role in demonstrating effective approaches to the issue, and that they often set very high standards when it came to strong port measures.
