Fire concern

Torika Tokalau
Friday, February 07, 2014

NO one should go through the devastating experience of a fire, says National Fire Authority CEO John O'Connor.

Mr O'Connor confirmed yesterday that a fire in Makoi brought the total number of property fires nationwide to 15 so far this year.

"A fire occurring at home is devastating and will greatly impact all the members of the family," he said.

He said nobody should assume that a fire would not happen in their property.

"We all use fire ignition sources at home and must all accept that a fire can happen in our homes if we do not take extra care and are not careful.

"Fires can be prevented if families are fire-conscious and take fire safety seriously."
