THE Department of Climate Change in the Foreign Ministry has received reports of villages being affected by the rising sea level.

Department director Dr Mahendra Kumar said community reps have informed them of the situation on the ground, which included saltwater intrusion, coastal and river bank erosion and flooding.

"We are working with the Ministry of iTaukei and Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development in identifying, profiling and mapping out vulnerable communities in Fiji.

Dr Kumar said this was in order to increase the resilience of these vulnerable communities.
