THE Natadola Bay Championship Golf course is regarded to be one of the world's best.

That is the view of Andrew Langford-Jones, the Director of Tournaments for the PGA Tour of Australasia.

Building up to the PGA Tour leg which will be held in Fiji later this year, Langford-James said they were pleased with the condition of the course.

He recently visited the golf course to inspect the venue for the coming Fiji International.

"Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course has the potential to become one of the world's best tournament venues," he said in a statement.

In his role with the PGA, Langford-Jones officiates at all of the biggest golf events in the region and his expertise is also utilised at some of the largest golf tournaments in the world, including the British Open and US Masters.

During his visit, Langford-Jones spent time with Natadola Bay's Course Superintendent Steve Lalor to discuss preparations and set up during the tournament week.

He said he was confident that Fiji would put on a spectacular show for its first international golf tournament to be played in August.

"This is the first time an international golf tournament of this calibre will be played in Fiji," said Langford-Jones.

"It's a big opportunity to showcase the country and I think the players and those who watch the Fiji International from all over the world will be very impressed by the beauty and challenge of the golf course."

Langford-Jones says that while the natural, rugged terrain of the Natadola golf course presents some logistical challenges, he's confident the international reputation of Fiji as a golf destination will grow significantly following the tournament.

"Pictures of Natadola will be shown all over the world like never before," said Langford-Jones.

"It's certainly one of the most beautiful golf courses I've ever seen and we're really excited about showcasing Natadola to our players, the rest of Australia and the international golf community."

The inaugural Fiji International will be played from August 14-17 2014 at Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course.
