NATABUA High School track queen Abbygale Tikoisuva was in top form winning the 400m junior girls race during the West athletics competition held at Natabua High School ground yesterday.

The national secondary school girls 400m champion displayed sheer pace to easily beat her fellow competitors during the race.

Tikoisuva's fine form has laid a platform for a repeat of last year's performance in the Coca-Cola Games where she won a 400m gold medal for her school.

Tournament official and Jasper William High School teacher Antonio Raboiliku said the Natabua High School student would become a top athlete in future if given more exposure and good guidance.

He said Tikoisuva was one of the star attractions during the competition and had a good athletics future ahead of her.

"Abbygale was in superb form and easily won the 400m race in a time of 1.02.98 minutes," said Raboiliku.

Another standout performer yesterday was Votualevu High School long distance champion Avikash Lal.

Lal recorded 9.41 minutes to win the 3000m event.

Raboiliku said the competition was to develop the participants' athletics abilities and to expose them to competitive games.

"Our goal is to develop athletics abilities for our students in the West and we know that the athletes also enjoyed their time."

He said around 50 athletes from Natabua, Jasper, Sainth Thomas, Votualevu, Tilak and some primary school students took part in the tournament.

Raboiliku also thanked the Natabua High School teachers and management for availing the school ground to host the games.
