203 seek refuge from floods in Rakiraki

Update: 10:16AM A TOTAL of 203 people are still in the three evacuation centres in Rakiraki.

According to assistant district officer Pio Loco, flood waters in Rakiraki Town and Naqoro flats are receding.

"Right now, we have sunny weather and our teams are commencing with the clean-up of the town," he said.

"Some of the businesses are open and operations are normalising slowly."

Mr Loco also said the FSC main access road along the Kings Road was still under water and closed to all traffic.
