20 evacuation centres open in west

Update: 12:08AM A TOTAL of 20 evacuation centres have been activated in the Western Division.

This, after many low-lying areas in the West succumbed to flooding during the day.

Four centres have been activated in Sigatoka and Rakiraki, while one centre is now open in Lautoka.

Nadi records the highest number of activated centres with 11.

The centres in Sigatoka are Sigatoka District School, Andra College, Nabou community hall, Sigatoka Agriculture office.

In Nadi the following cetres have been acitivated - Sikituru Community Hall, Nadi Muslim School, St Andrews Primary School, Nadi District School, Meigunyah Muslim Primary School, Vuniyasi District School, Bethany Church, Lomolomo Public School, Nadi Sangam School, Ratu Navula College, Sangam SKM College.

The only centre open in Lautoka is the Fiji Red Cross Lautoka branch and in Rakiraki it is the Seventh Day Church.
