Heavy rain warning: Take shelter at evacuation centres

Update: 12:22PM THE Fiji Meteorological Service has issued a warning that more rain is expected over the next few days and residents in flood-prone areas should take the necessary precautions.

The Information Ministry issued a statement calling for people living flood-prone areas to secure belongings and move to the nearest evacuation centre.

People are asked to carry rations to last at least 48 hours.

Schools in flood-prone areas are to remain closed until further notice.

All evacuations are to be conducted before nightfall.
