Fiji celebrates India's national day

Update: 5:34PM FIJI became the first country in the world to mark India's 65th Republic Day.

And more than 100 Indian nationals living in Fiji celebrated the day with a special flag raising ceremony at the India House in Tamavua this morning.

India's High Commissioner Vinod Kumar said they were fortunate to be the first celebrating in Fiji and thanked the government for its support.

He said it was a challenging time for both countries as both countries will be going to the polls this year.
