Winning start for Allan Jr in Summer Cup event

OLAF Allen Jr made a good start to his BSP Life Summer Cup competition campaign winning the A-grade title at the Fiji Golf Club course in Vatuwaqa yesterday.

The top local amateur golfer scored 65 nett in the stroke event to take the lead in the eight-week long competition.

David Oakley on 66 nett managed the second place while Byeong Cheul Jin on 67 settled for the third place in the A-grade.

In the B-grade competition, Doctor Ram Lochan on 65 nett was first followed by Mark Turner (69) and Kamal Singh (70) on second and third places, respectively.

Ashleigh Matheson won the C-grade title on 65 nett while Pramesh Sharma was second on 69.

Lui Naisara managed the third place finish in the grade on 71 nett.

The ladies division one prize was won by Margret BrownE on 68 nett while Mereani Naisara won the division two prize on 74 nett.

The nearest-to-the-pin prizes went to Bhaskaran Nair, Michael Greenwood, Byeong Cheul Jin and Vijay Madhavan on the second, fifth, twelfth and sixteenth holes, respectively.

Tomasi Tuivuna won the professional grade on 68 gross followed by Arvind Lal on 70.

"The general manager investment for BSP Life awarded the prizes to the winner," club manager Nigel Goundon said.

"In his speech he thanked Fiji Golf Club for giving the opportunity to BSP Life for sponsoring the event.

"The Fiji Golf Club appreciates the support from the sponsors. The course was in a great condition and the scores are evident of this."

Next week's competition will start with registration at 11am and tee off at 12midday.
