THIS year will be a crucial year for the President's office.

And as the head of State, President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau will continue to play a leading role in the progress towards parliamentary democracy.

Acting official secretary to the President's office Pene Baleinabuli, during the launching of the Office of the President's Corporate Plan on Friday, said the President would appoint the members of the key institutions that would co-ordinate all relevant procedures leading up to the election and the operation of the parliament.

He said these included the appointment of the members of the Electoral Commission, the Supervisor of Elections and the Secretary-General to Parliament.
