Waqa to lead Nadi

FORMER national beach volleyball rep Finau Waqa will spearhead Neighbours team campaign in today's Nadi Volleyball Association knock-out competition.

The 29-year-old SPG gold medallist is expected to team up with former national volleyball rep Rebecca Lasaqa in their attempt to maintain the Nadi competition.

The duo were instrumental for Neighbours win in last year's women category and their combination would be an asset for the defending champion.

Finau said the team did not have quality time to train together but depended on experience to win them the competition.

"Majority of our team to play this weekend were members of last year's winning team," she said.

"We may lack the required fitness level but we have the experience that can win us the tournament.

"Most of the players in the team are experience and skilful compared to other teams."

The Gau lass said the team would face tough competition against Ana Seniloli's Lanai Gold.

Finau said the service of former national rep Seniloli in the competition would make the competition tough.

"Lanai Gold will be tough to beat with Seniloli in their mix but I have faith in my team that we can win all our games," she said.

"We just need to communicate well during the games and play according to our strengths."

In the men's category, Votualevu-based Nomads team is expected to take out top honours after winning the men's title last year. The competition will be held at the NASA multipurpose court.
