Efficient service

Saturday, January 25, 2014

THE Ministry of Health will continue to monitor health facilities to ensure efficient and effective health services are delivered to the public.

The ministry's assurance follows a complaint against a nurse who allegedly used toilet paper to dress the wound of a patient at the Valelevu Health Centre.

Ministry spokeswoman Evlyn Mani said an investigation confirmed the item used to dress the patient's wound was cellulose — a type of medical dressing. She added cellulose was used because there were no lint and gauze supplies available at the health centre at that time.
