Help for family

Shayal Devi
Monday, January 20, 2014

FOR a family in Naduri, Sigatoka, dreams of their two children getting a good education has now been realised.

This is after Fiji Kids! Learning for Life extended their goodwill towards the Sami family, whose sole breadwinner passed away in a car accident some years back.

The accident left the future of Rahul and Yashlin Sami uncertain.

And organisation trustee and co-ordinator Sunil Ram said it was their duty to help the children.

"There are two children in that household," he said.

"Rahul will be in Form Three this year and Yashlin will be in Class Six.

"We have been supporting them for the last four years."

Mr Ram said the children's father had passed away in a car accident and their mother had been seriously injured during the incident.

"Fiji Kids has managed to help the children with some of their basic needs. Since we are taking care of their education, we are also providing them with food and other necessities and we have found out that they are doing better at school than before.

"We will always try to educate children like this and help them secure good jobs so that they can look after their family."

Last week, the organisation helped 120 poor students in Nadroga/Navosa to attend school after offering to financially sponsor their education from kindergarten to university level.
