First phase complete

Monday, January 20, 2014

THE first phase of renovation works at the St Giles Hospital has been completed.

In the past, the forensic, chronically disabled and acute wards were housed together at the institution.

But with the renovations carried out recently, the three wards are now segregated.

An Information Ministry statement said there are separate wards for forensic, chronically disabled and acute wards for males and females.

"This now ensures streamlined services so that patients are treated well and can be discharged," the statement said.

"Works undertaken at the St Giles Hospital come in the wake of new approaches designed to meet the needs of the mental health sector in the country."
