Bridge opens

Nasik Swami
Thursday, January 16, 2014

THE Vunidilo Bridge in Wailoku is open to buses and small to medium trucks with 14 tonne maximum gross weight and up to nine tonne axle weight.

In an Information Ministry statement issued yesterday, the Fiji Roads Authority reiterated that it was important to observe the posted weight restrictions in place for the benefit of all travellers in the area.

The bridge was closed last week after authority inspectors identified serious corrosion to the steel beams supporting the bridge and a recent failure of one of the beams at the bridge abutment.
