Record occupancy rate for resort

Maciu Malo
Monday, January 13, 2014

AWARD winning Outrigger on the Lagoon Fiji achieved another milestone recording an all-time occupancy rate of 70,000 to 80,000 guests last year.

This was confirmed by resort general manager Peter Hopgood as the resort looks to surpass the number for this year.

"Last year was a record year for the Outrigger, all time record and this can be attributed to the wedding business with a total 265 weddings held at the resort.

"For the whole year we achieved 82 per cent occupancy rate and most probably we have around 70,000 to 80,000 guests," he said.

"And we expect more from this year. Actually our wedding business is getting strong and hopefully we can do better from 2013."

He also attributed their achievements to the hard-working staff members.

"We take great pride in what we do at the resort not just the looking after our guests but also our staff members.

"We had to make sure that our workers feel comfortable in their work and environment.

"Last year we built two change rooms for our staff, new staff canteen and bus stop shelter, these are all important things and mean a lot to our workers.

"We are very successful, the reason being we have loyal and happy staff and that is part of what we do at Outrigger."
