Absence excused

A WOMAN had her absence from court excused after her lawyer made an application. Sulochna Singh is charged with a traffic offence. Her lawyer told the court they would apply for a no-case-to-answer. He said he was asking for his client to be excused on the next court date as well.

Bail extended

A YOUNG woman with special needs confirmed to the court she had applied to the Legal Aid Commission for assistance. Adi Sai is charged with annoying a person. Her mother told the court they were still awaiting word from the commission. Ad Sai's bail has been extended to next Tuesday.

10 bench warrants

ABOUT 10 bench warrants were extended again for people who have not been attending court. In the Suva Magistrates Court five, matters of two courts were called. The police prosecution informed the court the accused persons were not located by the police and they needed more time to look for these individuals.

Man seeks legal help

A MAN charged with careless driving has opted to seek the help of the Legal Aid Commission. Viliame Fotofili told the court he understood the charges when they were read out to him. After his legal rights were explained to him, Mr Fotofili took the option of going to the State-run legal defence service.
