THE Nadi Rugby Union recorded a good turnout during the first fitness test for the 2014 season at the Nadi Airport Sports Association gymnasium in Namaka yesterday.

Jacks Nadi head coach Iliesa Tanivula designed an off season training program for the players to follow through the festive period.

Nadi team manager Noa Neivalu said the team management was happy with the attitude of the players.

Neivalu said most of the players from last year's squad attended the fitness test.

"All the players were give an off season training program," he said.

"This fitness test ends our first phase of preparations. Now the players will be given another program that will be the second phase preparations.

"There will be a fitness test after that. Then a training squad will be selected. The squad will play warm-up games. There after the final squad will be selected for the new season."

National 7s training squad members Mosese Mawalu, Semi Kunatani, Donasio Ratubuli and Vatemo Ravouvou did not attend the fitness test.

Some members of the Westfield Barbarians also failed to attend the test because of their 7s commitments.

Nadi went down to Suva 22-25 in the semi-final of the Digicel Cup last year.

In the Farebrother Sullivan trophy challenge the Jetsetters drew 25-all with holders Naitasiri.
