Family loses home

Serafina Silaitoga
Thursday, January 09, 2014

DESPITE his age and frail frame, 95-year-old Rahul Mohammed braved the heat from the flames that engulfed his Seaqaqa home yesterday morning and walked out safely with other family members.

He sat quietly among his family and listened as they recollected how they escaped the early morning blaze that destroyed the structure that was, until yesterday, home to 14 in Seaqaqa.

His son, Mohammed Safiq said they lost almost everything,

"We lost about $82,000 worth of items we owned for the past 30 years of living there. We managed to save our car and tractor but that was all."

He is pleading for assistance from the authorities.
