Man misses three court dates

AN elderly man is now on the wanted list after failing to turn up to court yesterday.

Jawahar Lal, 72, is charged with indecently annoying a person.

He was to appear in the Suva Magistrates Court.

But a bench warrant was issued for his arrest when he failed to show.

Mr Lal is alleged to have made racial slurs at a 65-year-old complainant who happened to be his neighbour.

The court heard Mr Lal appeared when the case was initially called but then missed court on three dates.

The court was told Mr Lal eventually came to court last month and was given yesterday's date for his plea. However, when his name was called, he was not present.

The police prosecution made an application for a bench warrant which was granted by the court.

The case will be called later in the month.
