Double celebration

SPARKS flew at the Outrigger on the Lagoon Fiji's New Year's Eve party but it was not from the fireworks that ushered in 2014.

Staff members were amazed when Australian guest Adam Stevens proposed to his girlfriend Jo Messina and she in turn said "yes".

The atmosphere could not be more special for the duo and according to activities supervisor Larry Duaka, everything happened so fast.

"As guests and staff were taking pictures on the beach, Mr Stevens asked us to take a picture of him and his girlfriend using his mobile phone," he said.

"Before we knew it, he had knelt down and proposed to her right in front of us."

"This was followed by a big kaila from the staff to congratulate them."

Resort general manager Peter Hopgood said everyone at Outrigger on the Lagoon Fiji was delighted to have been able to provide that perfect New Year's Eve setting for their guest to propose.

"To be acknowledged that we offer personal, intimate occasions for a wedding proposal was the icing on the cake to usher in 2014."
