LTA on water, electricity bill requirement

Update: 12:43PM THE Land Transport Authority is expected to release an official statement today on their decision to make it compulsory for vehicle owners to produce water and electricity bills if they want to renew their driving licences, permits or any other transactions.

The LTAs decision has come under fire from the Consumer Council and  vehicle owners.

The council finds this notice to be absurd as it does not clearly state what happens to a family where more than one member owns a vehicle but does not have a separate water and electricity meter under their name. Electricity and water bills are normally under one persons name, Consumer Council CEO Premila Kumar said earlier.

The council cannot understand the rationale behind this notice.
