THE police have expressed concern at the growing number of reports of crime against the young.
Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said it was sad that the young continued to be victims.
Her comment follows another report of alleged defilement in the Northern Division.
Ms Naisoro said offenders were usually older people who held a position of trust in the lives of the young innocent victims.
"We should be looking after our young," said Ms Naisoro.
"We are requesting people to care about one another by keeping the young safe instead of taking advantage of their vulnerability," she said.
Ms Naisoro said it was important for the young to be protected by all those around them.
The latest case of alleged rape involved an 18-year-old youth charged with three counts of defiling a child under 13 years of age.
