THE Fiji Police Force has started an operation in the Southern Division to familiarise communities with officers serving in their areas.
It is part of the Southern Division community policing program.
Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said Operation Veikidavaki started this week in the Southern Division.
Ms Naisoro said the Fiji Police Band would accompany police officers from the nearest serving community post or station on an early morning route march.
"The route march commences every morning at 5:30am and as the operation name depicts, it is to welcome a new day and at the same time build a working relationship with officers serving in a certain district," she said.
