THE Fiji under-20 side will play warm-up matches against three of the top districts in the country in preparation for the Oceania World Cup playoffs in New Zealand.
The 30-member squad will resume camp at the Football Academy in Ba this Sunday after a break for the festive season, and coach Ravinesh Kumar hopes the players have maintained their fitness during the break.
He said they would need to be fit so they could work on skills and combinations.
"We will be playing matches against Ba, Lautoka and Nadi during these two weeks," Kumar said.
"Firstly, the three are giants in the soccer arena in Fiji and, secondly, they are very close to our camp at the academy."
Kumar said it was important to test the younger players against the senior footballers to build their confidence.
"The warm-up matches will be a testing ground for the players and we will look at their confidence, their response during the game and reaction to the attack and defence phases."
Kumar has asked for discipline and commitment from the players.
He said selection into the training squad was still open.
