THE Raiwai Volleyball Association has started its preparation for the Battle of the Powerhouse challenge against Suva, which is scheduled for January 18.

The Raiwai men's and women's sides started preparations earlier this week.

The association will host other Raiwai teams tomorrow to a fun day to boost their buildup to the inaugural challenge.

Association official Akuila Vukataki said they were requesting the players of the under-15, U17, U19, U21, Masters (over 38) in both men's and women's grades to meet at Nairai Top ground at 4pm tomorrow.

"This is in preparation for the Battle of the Powerhouse against Suva and also the Vulaca Tournament a week later," he said.

"We will have a clinic during the session on Thursday to improve on the players' skills.

"We will also conduct workshops to help players understand the rules of the game and educate them on maintaining discipline during the game."

Vukataki said Raiwai was eyeing another successful season following big wins last year.

He said the champion Raiwai Gold (men's team) had the core of the players who were part of the side last season.
