A KADAVU man charged with murder has been remanded in custody by the Suva Magistrates Court.
Suliasi Dumukuro, 25, appeared before Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili yesterday in an almost packed courtroom.
No plea was taken as the matter was transferred to the High Court.
Magistrate Ratuvili said murder was an indictable offence and under the law, it had to be transferred to the upper courts.
He said all bail applications also had to be made in the High Court.
Mr Dumukuro stood quietly with his head bowed during the proceedings.
The case will be called again on January 17 in the High Court.
After the case, Mr Dumukuro was kept in the prosecution office and later escorted back to Central Police Station.
He is alleged to have stabbed a 33-year-old man on Christmas Day on Kadavu during a drinking party.
