REGISTERED political parties contesting for next year's elections have been urged to follow procedures if they wish to carry out public meetings/ gatherings prior to the elections.

Police chief of operations ACP Rusiate Tudravu said this was clearly stated in the Public Order Amendment Decree 2012.

"If we found anyone to be in breach of these conditions, we will take actions in line with the requirement of the Constitution," ACP Tudravu said.

"However, no one has applied for the permit to meet as yet and we would once again like to kindly remind them to do so if there is a plan to meet, gather or campaign."

The election will be held in September 2014.
