VILLAGERS of Nayarailagi in Macuata have embarked on a yaqona-farming project to generate funds for the village.
Headman Peni Maisiri says they've planted 2000 yaqona plants.
"We plan to sell the plants and use the money for village projects," he said.
"We have yet to table out the proposed projects but for now our focus is to plant more yaqona.
"As part of our projects, we have completed the extension of the church steward's house — we spent about $5000 on it."
Mr Maisiri said villagers residing in other parts of the country continued to support the projects.
"Most of our children continue to support us from wherever they are in various parts of the world," he said.
"This is for the purpose of developing our village."
