POWER shutdowns for routine maintenance works will be scheduled on a daily basis throughout the country, says FEA chief executive Hasmukh Patel.
Mr Patel said the planned shutdowns would be advertised via the media.
"The planned power shutdowns in rural areas are normally carried out on weekdays," he said.
"For towns and major commercial and industrial customers, the shutdowns are normally planned for execution on weekends to minimise business disruption.
"So far no power shutdowns are scheduled for Labasa or the North this weekend."
Mr Patel said maintenance was carried out on a routine basis as part of FEA's planned maintenance program.
"It includes vegetation management, replacement of aged and ageing line hardware, replacement of rotten cross arms, line upgrading, transformer upgrading, and connection of new extensions to the existing FEA grid.
"Power shutdowns are of two types — planned and unplanned."
