SOME inmates were not forgotten this festive season as they were given jobs to earn a little and develop their skills.
Labasa businessman Nazim Shah believes helping inmates around Christmas is the best gift he could give them.
"I usually have a few of them working in the bakery and because there is a lot of work to do this season, I decided to bring in more and give them some work to do in the shop," he said.
"So they are helping with the offloading of cartons of food from trucks and organising some things in the shop.
"I am glad to be part of their Christmas and give them some work to help the Corrections Department. This is the best gift I have given them this Christmas."
Mr Shah said they assisted the department by selling eggs from the prison in their supermarket.
"I know what these inmates go through and how the community treats inmates, so I have stepped in to help them and show them that there are still some people in the community who care for them."
